Two Die When Apparatus Plunges Into Ditch

Two volunteer firefighters in Colorado died when the apparatus they were operating plunged into a ditch as it crossed a small bridge. The victims were fighting a large wind-driven wildfire as it approached a nearby town. Because of heavy smoke conditions in the area, they were unaware that the fire had already damaged or collapsed the bridge over a drainage ditch.
