American LaFrance, the oldest name in American fire apparatus, marks 175 years this year in a new fire manufacturing facility producing some of the most advanced technology in the industry. Truckson LaFrance and his partners started the LaFrance Manufacturing Co. in 1872 to produce hand pumps and rotary steam engines based on LaFrance's award-winning patents.
