Grant Aims to Retain Volunteer Firefighters

To counteract the rapid decline in volunteer firefighters in Pennsylvania, the federal government presented a $660,052 grant to the Sellersville Volunteer Fire Department; $570,000 is to fund initiatives geared toward recruiting and retaining firefighters. The Intelligencer reports that the remaining funds will purchase two new thermal imaging cameras and 37 sets of gear and clothing, replacing the 25-year-old outfits, some of which no longer meet safety standards.
