Chula Vista Names Chief

Jeff Piechura, the current fire chief of Northwest (Ariz.) Fire/Rescue, will take over as chief of the Chula Vista (Calif.) Fire Department. He has been with the Northwest Fire/Rescue District for 24 years, reports the Arizona Daily Star. He became chief in 1991 and was named Fire Chief of the Year in 2005 by the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association. In his new position, Piechura will oversee a staff of 117 employees and nine fire stations with a budget of $23 million. He will take the reins in early November. ...
