Conn. Department Hires Assistant Chief

Charles Licata became assistant fire chief of the East Haven (Conn.) Fire Department. Licata served as a career firefighter for 22 years, most recently holding the positions of deputy chief and training officer, reports Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News. The assistant chief position has been empty since Paul Cahill retired in summer. "I'm very happy for Chuck," Cahill told the paper. "I've watched him grow as a training officer.
