Fillmore, Calif., Chooses Chief

Capt. Bill Herrera, who has served as interim chief of the Fillmore (Calif.) Fire Department since former Chief Pete Egedi was placed on administrative leave in June, officially was named fire chief. According to the Ventura County Star, Herrera will manage 68 volunteer firefighters in a department that responds to approximately 1,000 medical and fire emergency calls per year. He has been a volunteer firefighter since 1999 and captain since 2005.
