A decade of distinction

Fire-Rescue International in Dallas recently marked the 10th anniversary of the ichiefs' Fire Service Awards for Excellence. Here's a look at this year's finalists. For 10 years, the ichiefs Fire Service Award for Excellence has recognized innovation in fire service programs implemented by departments across the country. This year, seven departments were selected as finalists and honored in Dallas at Fire-Rescue International 2000. They were selected for their work in such diverse and unusual areas as bicycle safety education, fire service leadership development and community healthcare.
