Career Fire Chief of the Year Bill Peterson of Plano, Texas, has built an impressive array of accomplishments on the twin foundations of experience and education. Growing up in Chicago's southern suburbs, Bill Peterson dreamed not of the blare of fire sirens, but of the roar of rockets and jet engines.
