Kan. Asst. Chief Retires, N.Y.911 Head Resigns

The Manhattan Mercury reports that Rick Berry, assistant chief of the Manhattan (Kan.) Fire Department retired after 28 years of service. Berry was promoted through the ranks of driver, inspector, lieutenant, battalion chief and assistant chief. "Assistant chief Berry has been an excellent employee and a mentor to many in our department," said Chief Jerry Syner told the paper. "His fire, ground and personal management skills will be greatly missed by our department." The Albany Herald reports that Albany 911 Director Steve Butler submitted his resignation.
