Chicago's Orozco Named SFPE Person of the Year

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers recognized Raymond E. Orozco, Chicago's executive director of the office of emergency management and communications, as SFPE Person of the Year. According to SFPE's engineering program manager Chris Jelenewicz, "Orozco was recognized for his unyielding commitment to proactive management, establishing and nurturing constructive community relations and planning for the future of the Chicago Fire Department. He recognizes the value of technology, research and innovation and has led the Chicago Fire Department in implementing changes in fire fighting strategy, fire safety equipment and life safety education."
