New Mexico Fire Chief Dies

The Brazos Canyon (N.M.) Volunteer Fire Department Chief Michael J. Hays died on Feb. 19 in an explosion at the fire station. Hays was 64 and had nine years of service. He had been elected chief only three days prior to his death.<p> Hays was at the station working on duties related to his new position when the explosion occurred. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. Hays is the 19th firefighter to die in the line of duty this year. ...
