Pa. Fire Chief Dies on Scene

The U.S. Fire Administration reports that Fire Chief Leonard Bailey died at the scene of an early-morning fire on Sept. 12. Bailey was chief of the Elizabeth (Pa.) Volunteer Fire Company. He was 56 years old. According to investigating officials, Bailey collapsed from an apparent heart attack after confirming that there was a working fire in the structure. Bailey was transported to Jefferson Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators indicated that the structure was abandoned with no utilities and had a history of recent break-ins.
