Va. Chief Retires After 31 Years

Paul Mauger has retired as Chesterfield County's, Va., fire chief after 31 years as a firefigther/administrator, reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Mauger was first hired in 1977, and three years later really jump-started his career a 16-year-old volunteer with the Enon (Va.) Volunteer Fire Department. He worked briefly as a dispatcher, later became a battalion chief, director of emergency medical services, senior battalion chief and deputy chief. He became chief in October 2004, replacing Stephen Elswick as interim chief. The appointment was made epermanent in March 2005. ...
