NVFC Lists Novelty Lighter Legislation

Some local and state governments are taking action by banning the sale and limiting distribution of toy-like or novelty lighters. The National Volunteer Fire Council supports restricting lighter sales. To use as templates, the list of legislation is available at www.nvfc.org/Novelty_Lighter_Legislation. In 2007, NVFC Chairman Philip C. Stittleburg sent a letter to Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Nancy Nord requesting that the CPSC prohibit the importation, sale and distribution of novelty lighters in the United States.
