Lucas Named Chief of Hilton Head Island

The Hilton Head Island Packet reports that Lavarn Lucas will take over as fire chief on Nov. 5 in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Lucas, who has spent 26 of his 30 years in the fire service, now serves as deputy chief of support services. He will replace Tom Fieldstead, who is retiring. Lucas was chosen from among 150 candidates and his varied experience earned him the nod.
