Maryland County Finishes with Budget Surplus

The Anne Arundel County (Md.) Fire Department finished FY2008 with a $2.54 million budget surplus. It is the second straight year the department finished under budget. Anne Arundel is a combination department. County Executive John R. Leopold applauded the cost savings measures by the Fire Department. “Chief (David) Stokes demonstrates that it is possible to simultaneously ensure the provision of excellent services and be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.
