N.C. Fire Chief to Retire

John Gist, fire chief of the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Fire Department, will retire at the end of November after a graduation ceremony at Forsyth Technical Community College's West Campus for the department's latest recruit class. During his tenure as chief, the department started answering medical calls, doing technical rescues and expanding and added stations to keep up with city annexations.
