Thomas Carr Named Charleston Chief

Montgomery, Md., Fire Chief Thomas Carr has been selected by Mayor Riley as the new of the Charleston (S.C.) Fire Department, reports the Post and Courier. The 54-year-old Carr was chosen from a pool of seven veteran candidates. Carr has 30 years experience in the fire service, serving four of those years as chief. He is Charleston native and currently oversees 2,200 paid and volunteer firefighters. He has a master’s degree from the University of Maryland and was a fellow at Harvard University’s John F.
