Wash. Districts Plan Merger, Seek Bond

Voters in Pierce County, Wash., will have the opportunity to approve or deny two fire districts' proposals in this month's primary elections, reports the Tacoma News Tribune. Graham Fire & Rescue seeks voter approval for a $12 million bond to double its number of full-time stations while Fire District 15 wants to merge with Fire District 17. Graham Fire & Rescue Chief Gary Franz told the paper that the three full-time stations already in operation are not enough to properly cover the 100-square-mile district.
