NIC Extends NIMS Implementation to FY 2007

State and local organizations will have until the end of fiscal year 2006 to implement the National Incident Management System – a one-year extension on the Department of Homeland Security’s previously announced target, according to the acting director of the NIMS Integration Center. The NIMS is the foundation of the National Response Plan, the cornerstone of the DHS effort to integrate and unify response to emergencies across federal, state, local and public and private organizations.
