P.A. Fire, Ambulance Crews Split Grant

Fifteen area fire and ambulance companies will split a $1 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security to purchase new radios that will be compatible with updated emergency communications systems, according to Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News. Three counties in West End complied grant requests into a single application for a $1.7 million grant from the Assistance to Fire Fighters Program. The volunteer departments must match the grant with $440,000 of local money.
