St. Louis Switches SCBA After Lawsuits

The St. Louis (Mo.) Fire Department plans to spend approximately $2 million to replace its Survivair brand (now Sperian Fire) breathing and safety gear with 375 new mask-and-backpack devices from Scott Health & Safety. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Survivair equipment was blamed in lawsuits for two St. Louis firefighter deaths last year. The new units will be delivered starting in mid-December.
